I have practiced in the field of women’s health and wellbeing for over 15 years. As both a midwife and Bodynamic practitioner, I bring knowledge of somatic psychology, developmental theory and holistic reproductive health care to women recovering from a traumatic pregnancy, birth, or postpartum experience.

I have also been involved in collaborative activism, policy alignment with grassroots movements and philanthropy for more than 10 years, including co-founding the Birth Justice Fund www. groundswellfund.org/birth-justice-fund/ and the Thriving Women’s Initiative http://www.7genfund.org/thriving-women.  I also was a cofounder of Sins Invalid, a performance arts festival in San Francisco, CA, centering and celebrating disability justice and sexuality.

I am on the board of Global Force for Healing to positively impact maternal and infant health globally.www.globalforceforhealing.org. I am also a Board member of the Groundswell Fund www.groundswellfund.org, which focuses on reproductive justice for underserved communities of color in the US. My work with Groundswell creates a larger frame around reproductive justice that includes the midwifery model of care.  I recently joined the board of Elephant Circle which centers the reproductive care and rights of transgender people in the US.

My Unique Style

Sessions with me are tailored for each individual and may include bodywork, nutritional counseling, holistic pelvic care, and/or various forms of emotional/energetic support. My work can aid in the healing of scar tissue from c-sections, prolapse, and pelvic pain. One of Amanda's specialties is supporting women and birth parents who are still struggling with recovery from a cesarean section, whether in the postpartum period or several years out from their birth. I advocate for health care approaches that see people as whole and recognize their ability to heal themselves with the appropriate support. I also support clients to develop practices for self-awareness, self-care, and increased resiliency. I care deeply about health care approaches that see people as whole and recognize each community’s ability to heal itself when it has the support and resources it needs.
